We offer surf lessons all year around (based on conditions) to beginner, intermediate or the traveling surfer looking for uncrowded waves and what san clemente has to offer.We will teach you ocean awareness,water safety,beach appreciation and surf etiquette.

The 20 minute land instruction includes detailed ocean awareness preparation paddling techniques ,pop up ,stance ,ride to shore ,duck diving wave selection & more paddling

Totally great experience with Matt , All of us from 12-49 got up on the boards. Matt was very communicative and responsive when arranging lessons as well. Call them and commence shredding 🏄♂️
I had a rough start – bleary-eyed at 7am and stabbing my feet through the armholes of the wetsuit. ‘That’s a first. No problem, man!’ haha – but Matt proceeded to get me up and running in no time. Clear and simple questions and instruction, a short haul to the beach, some dry practice, in the water, up on the first wave. I had surfed so infrequently and so far between that I might as well have been starting over, but Matt gave me the cues and positivity I needed. I’ll be coming back. Seek him out in the village of San Clemente!
Great surf lesson at beautiful location
Our surfing lesson at Matt was great fun! We really enjoyed every second of it and learned a lot as beginners. Would definitely recommend for anyone that’s near San Clemente. The beach and the waves were awesome. The guide is cool, too!

Me and my brother had our first surf lesson ever. It was the greatest experience! We had so much fun! Matt is the coolest guy. He definitely knows how to teach! We got up in almost all of the waves. Had the best time

On a whim, I pulled up to the shop at 8 in the morning and he warmly invited me in and suggested an impromptu surf lesson. I’ve had lessons before, but none of my instructors were as kind, encouraging, and knowledgeable as Wolfy. I’m so grateful for the time he invested in me. I struggled in the beginning but with his positivity and guidance, I was able to catch my first wave and now I’m totally hooked! I plan to go back for more lessons, and I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone interested in surfing.

Incredible experience – this is the guy you want to teach to surf!
We had such an amazing experience with Matt. He takes great care to fit you for the right size wet suit and do some instruction on dry land first. He knows the best locations and best time of day to go. His instruction was so thorough that my nephew and the other student were standing up on their first attempt! He spends a lot of time with you and gives you more than a lesson – he gives you an experience! And he’s exactly what you expect for a California surfer dude that it just makes it all that more fun when you are an out of towner! We plan to visit again!

Matt is rad! My family had an amazing time with both of them during our lesson at Linda Lane. They recommended another beach for more surfing, so we rented boards from Matt another day. He delivered them to us free of charge and gave us a good deal. Matt is San Clemente native and 100% the real deal.
We had a great time learning to surf with Matt. We were complete beginners and they were very great instructors and very encouraging. Our three teens had a great time. By the end of the private lessons several of us had already stood up on the board and continued surfing on our own after the class ended.
Matt not only introduced me to San Clemente surfing but he also helped me hook up a wonderful place to live! Above and beyond! He was an awesome instructor. Can’t recommend enough! Thanks again Matt!
Matt was phenomenal. I took my 19 year old niece to go surfing for her first time and she couldn’t have had a better introduction to it. She caught around 15 waves and Matt made sure she was comfortable the whole time out there. You will get every cent of your money’s worth.
Amazing! Matt was awesome–an expert surfer and teacher, he made my first surfing experience a total success. The suits and boards were super user-friendly, and the lesson itself was fun and informative. I got up on the board a dozen times on my first time out on the waves! My girlfriend and I loved it and will be back in the future!
Great Company/Great People/ Great Surfing Lessons
Matt provided amazing private surfing lessons with spectacular instruction No matter what your surfing experience is, they are understanding and meet you at your level. It was only my second time surfing when I came across Matt had me riding some waves! If you want to go through some surfing lessons or just want to rent out a surf board, they are really great people to go to!
Matt is the best!! I can’t say enough for him. He relates on a very personal level and his teaching techniques are spot on. I signed my grandson up for a private lesson and within ten minutes he was up and smiling. Not only was it such a great lesson but Matt made it an awesome experience.
I’m a first time surfer and I had an amazing experience. An expert on the waves and on the San Clemente area, Matt dropped me right off at the beach with my board and picked me up promptly afterwards. Instructor Matt put my beginner nerves at ease and got me up on my feet in a fabulous two hour lesson. I Can’t wait to book my next trip!
I first called Matt to purchase a lesson for my brother as a gift. He was super helpful and it was an easy process from Boston. Flash forward a couple months and a quick trip to CA to visit and my brother and I heading out to take a joint lesson with Grant. Grant was professional and encouraging. He made us feel super comfortable in the water and on board. It was so much fun and my only regret is that I’m not staying long enough to do a second one. Highly recommend these guys!!
Called them at 930 am and was in the water on a board with my 19 yo daughter by 1030. Grant was a terrific instructor. Lots of fun. Highly recommend.
Our kids (18 and 19) had a great time and an awesome first lesson. Their time with Matt was great, he was professional and fun and gave them a lot of good time on the board. We will call them again when we are in town.
If you want to learn how to surf, this is the place to go! My instructor Matt was amazing and made sure that I got up on the board as much as I could! He gave me many tips and tricks, everyone that works here is extremely knowledgeable! Also they are very nice and helpful. In addition to private lessons, you can rent boards so you can go out another time after you learn! Best surfing lessons+rentals in San Clemente!!

I am a beginner and this was the best surfing experience. After my lesson, I felt more confident with a surf board. I was able to pop up on the board and rode a few to shore. Check them out, it’s worth it!
The best surfing lesson Ive ever had!
What an amazing experience!! I’ve taken lessons before but this went way beyond. If you really want to learn to surf this is the place to go. Learn to read waves and catch them in your own. Absolutely perfect!!

Matt was simply amazing. He was able to get me up on the board within 30 minutes of the first lesson. Very encouraging and able to provide specific pointers that allowed me to catch a few waves without any assistance. Helpful and accessible even when not in session and provided tips on the greater San Clemente area.
